From a one-person company to a global player
We are proud of our long history: Andreas Stihl made his first chainsaw in 1926 – back when STIHL was a one-person company. He soon exported his first tools and started training specialist staff. Over the years, the company has developed into an internationally active manufacturer of chainsaws and power tools. Today it has more than 15,000 employees, including 400 trainees. Our products are generally sold by specialist dealers who offer servicing – with 38 in-house sales and marketing companies, more than 120 importers and approximately 45,000 specialist dealers in more than 160 countries.
As a family company, we think it is important to maintain our values and further strengthen our existing roots. That’s why we continue to see a down-to-earth attitude, stability and job security as essential.
