STIHL is known for innovation and top technological performance. We’ll show you what’s behind STIHL technology. Today, let’s take a look at the STIHL two-stroke engine with 2-MIX technology.
Whether it’s cutting performance or pulling power that you need, you have to be able to rely on a strong engine while working. The two-stroke power unit with 2-MIX technology from STIHL lives up to precisely these demands with its high engine power, excellent power-to-weight ratio and outstanding torque development. Despite its power, the engine’s emissions are low and thus it is especially eco-friendly.
Fresh air = fewer scavenging losses
And here’s how it works: During scavenging, a layer of air without any fuel is created between the burnt charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase. The exhaust is separated from the fresh fuel to minimise the scavenging losses, eliminating the unburnt components of the emitted mix that pose a health and environmental hazard.
One system, many benefits
The benefits are clear: The 2-MIX technology from STIHL is particularly effective. It provides high power despite efficient use of the fuel consumed. High torque over a wide speed range ensures that the engine provides particularly good lugging power. Thanks to perceptibly lower fuel consumption, there is less pollution and fewer harmful emissions, making the technology especially eco-friendly.
What’s more, fuel consumption is up to 20% lower in comparison with conventional two-strokes without 2-MIX technology.
